The knee is coming along well. I started physical therapy today and I have 78 degrees of movement now, which is pretty good and should continue to improve. My knee also hurts a ton but it’ll be worth it when I can frolick and play again. Whee.

Oh..and Maine on Sunday with Ryan and Renner! Wooo!! 8-)

Today has been by far the busiest day since my surgery. I got up and it took a little over 2 hours for me to get moving and ready because everything takes longer on crutches and without bending your knee. Then I sang for Nancy’s son Jason’s memorial. The service was really beautiful and Fr. Keith offered a great homily. I think it was an important stepping stone for Nancy in her healing and I can definitely see she has come a long way since Jason passed away. After the memorial, Mom and I headed down to Albany for my cousin Tyler’s graduation party. It was really bittersweet because my family hasn’t all been together since my graduation party and it’s going to be a long time until we are all together again since my Uncle Mike, Aunt Kathy and Tyler are moving down to South Carolina a week from tomorrow…kind of crazy. After I got back from his graduation party, Matt and I went out for a while too. I am totally pooped but it’s such an amazing feeling to be tired! It’s been so long since I have been genuinely tired.

Ohhh — and yesterday I got 9 inches cut off of my hair…and bangs. Crazy, I know…but I’m really glad I did. I love it.

Halfway through…I was totally terrified!

Relieved and happy with the finished product…don’t mind the crutches ;)

Many thanks to Meg for coming with me and being my emotional support and documenting my distress in photos. :-D

So my lesson yesterday was AMAZING. She is an incredibly talented lady. She told me I would be learning without her really teaching me anything…and it’s so true. I’m super excited for the rest of my lessons this summer, as well as working on a couple songs with her. I also got to sing Peel Me a Grape, one of my recital pieces from last semester, for her. It’s apparently one of her signature pieces and it was just amazing to sing with her. It definitely gives me something to look forward to this summer rather than moping about because of my knee.

So today I am beginning my voice lessons with Anne Turner, the senior Artist-In-Residence at Skidmore College. I’m super nervous. She is one of the best teachers in the area and I’ve only been taking lessons since October…not to mention she does graduate studies lessons. Ahhh! Andy made the arrangements for me, which is super nice of him and I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t be able to study with her otherwise. On top of all of this, she teaches Opera. I don’t sing opera. Ehhh. Wish me luck! Afterward, Mom and I are going out with my Uncle Mike and his family before they move to North Carolina. It should be nice considering I haven’t seen him in 2 years. Wooooo.

Blogs are for people who:

A) Think people actually care about their lives

B) Don’t have enough friends to whine to

orrrrr

C) Think their lives are exponentially more interesting than everyone else’s

or in my case

D) Have nothing better to do.

So great…now that I am fully hooked on Law and Order (thanks Law and Order Marathons for owning my life for the entire weekend)…the marathon was replaced with a Walker Texas Ranger Marathon. Uhh…ew? Really?

PS. Thanks Le Moyne for charging me $6.24 for damage charges. Not only is this an absurd amount buttttt it’s for a damaged water fountain on the FIRST FLOOR…where all of the college’s administrative offices are located. Just curious Le Moyne…did you charge the employees in the offices too or just the people who lived above the water fountain because it was an easy way to not have to pay to fix something?! LAME LAME LAME.

I think the fact that I seriously NEVER watched TV as a child is catching up with me with my recovery. I have probably watched over 15 hours of Law and Order this weekend…and tonight was the new episode of Criminal Intent. I can’t believe that I, of all people, am blogging about TV. I don’t watch TV like…ever…except socially. What has my life become?! Ahhh!!!

Is an amazing musical. True story. Go and iTunes it. Jason Robert Brown’s brain must be an amazing place to be….except Songs for a New World. The songs were fun to sing but…really? No plot. Whatsoever. The Last Five Years is amazing in it’s super crazy plotted way.

Anddddd my grandma is coming over tomorrow. It’ll be both wonderful and sad for me.

I am officially staple-free though I think I took the Lord’s name in vain so many times while they were yanking that if I went to confession immediately afterwards I would still be there saying my Hail Marys and Our Fathers. But, on a positive note, I now have 30 degrees of movement allowed on my brace. My knee can bend itself from weight (which hurts a TON) but I can kinda bend it probably 10-15 degrees on my own if I concentrate hard enough, which is really good. I was at 15 degree 6 weeks post-op last time and it’s only 19 days post-op as of today. On another note…this whole sleeping four hours a night thing isn’t really working for me. In fact, it’s driving me crazy. Sleep is like how I fast forward through the hell that is recooping my crappy knee so now I’m sore, cranky AND exhausted. What the crap. Why can’t I sleep anymore? >:o
