So with my quickly approaching surgery (just three days away!) I thought I’d start a blog just to let people know what is going on with my life right now.
I just finished my first term of service with AmeriCorps through Jumpstart. I’m really going to miss it, but I was offered a position for next year as the Volunteer Coordinator. I am not 100% sure I am going to take it as it’s a pretty big time commitment but, my heart is in it. I am sure I will end up taking it. Just need the summer to weigh my options. If not, I’ll be back in the Campus Ministry office which I absolutely love. Who knows, maybe I’ll do both?
Friday, as I mentioned before is my second knee surgery. I am a veteran of surgery in general and especially of this particular knee surgery. The procedure is called the Hauser procedure and is a very painful surgery, so that kind of makes me nervous…especially knowing the pain from my surgery I had on July 3, 2007 on my left knee. This time it’ll be my right knee and hopefully it will be a success. The procedure is rarely done anymore but Dr. LaRosa still practices it and it appears to be a success. I have fairly severe arthritis and Patella-Femoral Syndrome that causes my kneecaps to dislocate chronically (the right kneecap now dislocates slightly everytime I take a step but pops right back in afterwards). Dr. LaRosa has already told me I am going to need replacements eventually and that this surgery is just to stabilize my knees a little more so I can wait on the replacements. I don’t aspire to be the bionic woman before age 20…hahaha. I am not looking forward to another summer laid up but I should have my cast off by late June or early July so I can atleast enjoy the pool a little before I am back to Le Moyne!
I miss everyone at Le Moyne very much. I can’t wait they come and visit this summer. I hope I can make it out to Syracuse for Justin’s birthday on July 29…just 17 days before mine!
